Terms of Service

These are the rules between you and us. We've tried to write them in English. If anything is confusing, the contact form is right there.

1. Who we are

Christmas Card Factory is a product run by Paper & Pine Studio LLC, a Maine limited liability company registered at 414 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101. When we say "we" or "us" we mean that company.

2. What you can use the service for

You can use Christmas Card Factory to create and order painted cards from photos you have the right to use. That means: photos you took, photos someone gave you, photos clearly of you and your family. Do not upload:

  • Photos of people who didn't agree to be on a card
  • Photos you scraped, ripped, or otherwise didn't get permission for
  • Anything illegal, hateful, or designed to harass someone
  • Photos of minors who aren't your own kids or who's guardian didn't say yes

If we think a photo crosses any of these lines, we'll refuse the order and refund you. We don't moderate perfectly. We try.

3. What we make

Every card is generated by a painting model we built and maintain ourselves. Output varies. Brush strokes will be slightly different on each re-paint. That's the point — nothing here is mass-produced.

Printed cards are pressed in Portland on 300gsm matte stock. Color reproduction will be close to what you see on screen but not identical, because paper and pigment aren't pixels. If something arrives clearly wrong (wrong photo printed, smudged ink, torn card), write us and we'll reprint it.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are listed on the pricing page. We charge in US dollars. Taxes are added at checkout where applicable. We use Stripe for payments. We never see or store your card number.

Gift cards never expire. Store credit expires after 24 months of inactivity.

5. Shipping and delivery

Digital PDFs deliver within two minutes of payment confirmation, usually under one. If more than an hour passes without your PDF, check your spam folder, then write us.

Printed sets ship from Portland in six business days by default, twelve to forty-eight hours with the Rush add-on. Tracked shipping is free in the US. International orders ship from the same shop at $4 flat, take eight to ten business days, and may incur customs charges we can't control.

6. Your photo, your rights

You keep full ownership of any photo you upload. We claim a limited, temporary license only to process, paint, and deliver your order. We never train our model on your photos. We delete uploads thirty days after your final order ships.

For the cards we paint for you, you own the output. Print them wherever, share them however, frame them on the wall. If you want to resell the exact painted image as stock art, please ask first — that's the only case we'd have a problem with.

7. Refunds

Digital orders: full refund within 7 days if you haven't downloaded the PDF. If you downloaded it, we'll work it out case by case.

Printed orders: full refund before the set goes to the press. After printing, we can refund up to 50% if you cancel before shipping. Once it's in the mail, we can't refund, but we will reprint anything that arrives damaged.

8. Accounts

You can order without an account. If you make one, don't share your password. If you think someone got in, write us. We'll reset it and talk you through what to check.

9. Changes to this agreement

We might update these terms when something changes on our end. If it's a meaningful change, we'll email people with active accounts at least fourteen days before it takes effect. Small fixes (typos, clarifications) we'll just post.

10. Disputes

Maine law governs this agreement. If we can't work something out between us, the Cumberland County courts are the venue. We'd very much prefer to not end up there. We're four people with one letterpress. Please write to us first.

11. Limits of what we promise

We try hard. We can't promise the service will never break. We can't promise the model will produce a card you love on the first try (that's why revisions are included). To the extent the law allows it, our liability for any single order is capped at what you paid for that order.

12. Getting hold of us

Use the contact form. If it's a legal notice, address it to: Paper & Pine Studio LLC, attn: Legal, 414 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101.
